A few bits of background:
1.) S.A.R.A.H., Jack's smart house, has an online presence in the form of a Twitter account. If you ask her questions, sometimes she answers. She is voiced by the show's writers and creative staff.
2.) Not only does she voice her opinions, she sometimes shares spoilers. Sometimes subtle, sometimes blatant, if you look careful, you can find tidbits. (Twitter limits posts to 140 characters)
3.) S.A.R.A.H. does not respond to all questions or responses.
@_S_A_R_A_H_ How very interesting. Any other out-of-the-ordinary physiological readings we should know about? 12:36 PM August 16, 2008 from web in reply to _S_A_R_A_H_
@petuniaii Yes. Somebody is pregnant. 10:38 AM August 16, 2008 from web in reply to petuniaii
@_S_A_R_A_H_ .... Aw HAYull no. *wrings hands* Not Zoe... better not be Allison... it's not JO, surely?? 01:00 PM August 16, 2008 from web in reply to _S_A_R_A_H_
(No response posted by SARAH.)
.... SERIOUSLY?
Ok, so if she's spoiling us for real, then it breaks down like this-- we have 4 major females right now, 3 of them full time cast. Allison, Zoe, Jo and Thorne. Thorne is not even worth speculating on - a.) too old. b.) no 'significant other'. c.) busy with other 'issues'. d.) not a long term character (as far as we know).
Allison: Top suspect. She's back with Nathan, and I doubt she's waiting until the 2nd marriage ceremony to get back into bed with Nathan considering their behavior. She already has one child, so it's not that much of a stretch for her to have a 2nd. And seriously? Who can blame her for getting him on his back right away? He's completely in love with her and absofuckinglutely GORGEOUS. And no reason to wait this time.
Jo: Although they haven't flat out said it, she and Zane seem very happy together and not very platonic. I suspect they've been knocking boots for quite a while now. Again, who can blame her? *look* at him. Nathan, Carter and Zane are SO the town hotties.
Zoe: Honestly? I *really* don't want it to be her. The whole teenage pregnancy thing is just... No. Yes, she has a boyfriend, but she's cleaned her life up a lot and grown up.
There is always the possibility this might be a forced storyline due to someone (ie Salli or Erica) getting pregnant in real life. If that's the case, then congrats to them! (But come on writers, did we really have to work it in rather than leave it out? Is the timing going to be specific to the back 13? Neither of them is showing yet, but filming for most of this was a bit ago, and they won't start on the back 13 for a bit still.)
This could also be a red herring (although they've yet to put those out as actual spoilers) or as part of an alternate timeline, time loop, dream sequence or something else.
If it's for real and *not* because of someone's RL pregnancy that they couldn't ignore, I can't help but think they've gone a little *too* soap opera on us. :-/
I ask you, FList, what do you think? Please discuss.
August 19 2008, 07:42:48 UTC 3 years ago
That being said, with the other spoiler in mind, it's totally Allison. I think.
August 19 2008, 08:19:39 UTC 3 years ago
(I feel I am rather 'up' on the spoilers -- I don't go hunting, but they keep surfacing in some of my hangouts, so... *shrugs* I *love* talking to S.A.R.A.H. for the entertainment value-- since I was already on Twitter, it worked out great.)

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
****************************************
That someone is leaving the show and that the fact that Ed Quinn isn't credited for the next couple of episodes @ IMDb makes me cry!
Additional, circumstantial evidence: if you watch the last couple of eps with that in mind, you can see Stark redeeming himself somewhat, by believing Carter when Allison doesn't and coming back in to quietly praise Carter... stuff like that. Those characters ALWAYS die. Also, the flash in the preview. Nathan is the only one who seems really close when that happens.
*wails* I don't want my Starky to diiiiiiiiiiiiiie!
****************************************
August 19 2008, 09:37:13 UTC 3 years ago
I don't want ANYONE to die, much less my Nathan. (WHERE AM I GOING TO GET MY ED FIX? The man is IMPOSSIBLE to find.) I'll probably lose my muse and be SO VERY PISSED.
re: IMDB -- he isn't listed for the next couple, but he's listed for "Show Me the Mummy", which is the 'Season' finale. IMDB is also all user-generated content, so it may not be accurate.
In my review/commentary from last week,HERE I speculated that it would be Fargo. Not that I *want* Fargo, but that it is.
re: the preview: When the thing explodes (and we see someone squinting) It's not Nathan. I freeze framed it on my tv-- very not him. Not even him clean shaven. (I know what that looks like.) Doesn't really look like any of them except *maybe* Fargo sans glasses. And that's pushing it. Plys if you're relying on the suits, the whole town is dressed up for Nathan and Ali's wedding, so everyone looks nice.
Ed said in an interview very recently that Stark has a 'huge arc' this season and becomes 'less of an antihero and more of a good guy' during the season.
If they kill Nathan and then have Ali knocked up with his child, I will have a hard time *not* thinking we've completely jumped the shark. And I really *love* this show, so it will make it so very tough.
Honestly at this point? I am hoping for a 'fakeout' death of some sort, like them dying in one of the day loops and Carter saving them so that he can escape the loops. Cause... no. Don't mess with the chemistry you've got, especially with the whole triangle thing and Nathan/Jack. (Which is really Colin & Ed's BFFdom leaking into everything I swear)
(Unless they are killing him off because of the homoeroticism that has existed from the beginning. OH NOES.)Sigh. It just.. no. No. I need the beautful man. :-(
August 19 2008, 09:59:32 UTC 3 years ago
Yes, I am an obsessed fangirl. How'd you guess?
Show Me The Mummy is the ep after tonight's ep, no? Is the fifth ep the season finale?! Also, IMDb might be user-generated, but if everybody's listed except my Nathan, I'm starting to get concerned. They haven't been wrong yet, Eureka-wise, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Re: your commentary and the speculation - as much as I want to believe that it's a sort of fake-out, Colin said in an interview that it's weird, a friend is leaving the set and won't be around anymore. So that points in the direction of an actual death (would you happen to be on the TWoP boards? There is a speculation/spoiler thread there, too). And then it all points in the direction of Nathan again.
Re: the preview - could just be a stunt double. Explosions are dangerous, and obviously they won't risk Ed's pretty, pretty face for that. (And oh yes, clean shaven!Ed. Hot. I actually like the goatee, although I would like him to groom it more, but there is something so very hot about clean shaven!Ed. HOTD2, anyone? He's also half-naked in that movie while making lecherous comments to a woman. *dead*)
Re: Ed's interview - what could be huger than Stark dying? And the redemption thing is already set in motion. Also, what if he got instructed to say that to fake out viewers?
Re: shark jumping - I totally agree. I also think that without Nathan, the show will be a lot less fun to watch. He's sort of the heart of the show, gives the interactions depth. Plus, the pretty!
I'm really hoping for a fake-out too, but to me, the evidence might be circumstantial, but it's overwhelming me to the point where I don't want to watch the next ep. I just know it's him. *wails more*
Also, I'm loving this discussion :D I have very few friends I can discuss Eureka with, so I'm welcoming this!

August 19 2008, 20:26:52 UTC 3 years ago
It *used* to be. Maybe they re-ordered the eps. (Not like the FIRST time THAT's happened.) Ah well. But he's credited for the next ep, which means something.
Also, IMDB is user generated content, so we can't always be sure of it. It's like a wiki, where one takes it with a grain of salt-- although IMDB doesn't have the best rep, so maybe with a spoonful.
No, I don't hang out on any boards, actually. Just surface sites. Like I said, I don't acutally go *looking* for it, just wait for it to come to me.
Oh noes Colin, if they kill Nathan you'll be without your BFF boy :-( (Because they are adorably attached to each other. If you've ever listened to the podcasts/commentaries, you know *exactly* what I mean.) On the other hand, they all REALLY get along there-- he would consider most any of the full time people good friends.
re: stunt double -- they're REALLY careful about not putting the faces of stunt ppl in shots like that. They know it screws with stuff too much. It honestly looks like a one-off character or maybe a bad shot of Neil.
re: beard -- THANK YOU! I was *just* grumbling about this to someone yesterday. I want his S1 sleek look back. So much hotter than the mountain man look he's sporting the last 2 seasons. :-/ He looks like a baby when he's clean shaven though. Shockingly different. I FREAKED the first time I saw him beardless. (Then again, being a hardcore CSI:NY fan from Day 1, it took me a couple eps of Eureka to not be all like 'OMFG Frankie is NOT dead, he's been spirited away to run Global Dynamics!' LOL)
re: HOTD2 -- another ABSOFUCKINGLUTELTY bad movie. So bad it's almost funny-- bad editing, bad FX, random squib work, complete lack of plot, based on a crappy videogame.... But, the whole thing was worth watching when he says to Emannuelle (Det. Angell from CSI:NY!) "It makes me all hard." *flail* And, guns and body armor and badassness. And he was a cross between a fucked up Stark and Carter for the character.
Eureka hasn't been the lie and decieve type in their spoiler releases so far. Lie by ommission maybe, but not deliberately. They know their fandom well, and I think they're smart enough to know that blatant lies will piss off the fans.
He's sort of the heart of the show, gives the interactions depth.
I know! That's why I'm like ookkkk, why are we screwing up THIS dynamic then???
Yeah, the pretty... but I'd be happy if they had Ed, Colin and Niall just not wear clothes anymore. Preferably all at once. :-p
and then some happydrug/hormone thing makes them get ALLL over each other. LOLI do enjoy talking Eureka too-- I'm lacking a lot of people who are intersted in picking it apart. I post commentaries and fic for the world, you're always welcome to join in the discussion on those. That's what I have this account for.

But, the whole thing was worth watching when he says to Emannuelle (Det. Angell from CSI:NY!) "It makes me all hard." *flail*
A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!! OMFG I FLAILED SO HARD WHEN I SAW THAT AND I COULDN'T STOP REWINDING!!!
Dude, I'm totally friending you. Merciless friending going on, right here.
Also, is it really wrong that I thought Frankie was SO. FUCKING. HOT? Even (or especially) in psycho mode?

But that would mean she'd be having herself impregnated deliberately, and unless they've got a really good explanation, this is as likely as mpreg.
Allison . . . given the implied drama coming up with her love life, this is going to majorly complicate things.
Zoe, I kind of doubt . . . yes, she has a boyfriend, but I doubt SARAH would let them get up to anything without at least a reminder to be 'safe'.
Jo, definitely jumping Zane on a regular basis, but she seems about as likely to have sex without protection as leaving her gun case open when she heads home for the night.
August 19 2008, 20:36:48 UTC 3 years ago
And even if Thorne had access to the tech, I think she's MUCH too busy to worry about such things-- and busy trying to
take over the worldmess with GD.Yeah, it complicates things, but it still seems like Allison as the most likely suspect. Even if it would seem like a complete sharkjumping thing.
S.A.R.A.H. would be a very good guardian, but she's not everywhere. But Zoe's also really worked hard at cleaning up her act, so it would seem rather out of character now. Lucas also seems *really* smart and responsible too.
I would think Jo would be careful, but careful doesn't always cut it. And Jo has her secret girly bits, like the wedding dress thing. It could be the 'random curveball' option.
August 19 2008, 21:16:36 UTC 3 years ago
Nah, not really a shark-jumping. She was pregnant once already on the show, and even though that timeline no longer exists, it was handled well enough. She'll still be the same awesome co-head of GD we all know and love.
mm. Yeah, I figure Zoe . . . well, Zoe isn't above doing things just to piss off her dad, but she's taking school seriously and taking advanced physics classes -- that's Eureka advanced, where a high school diploma would equate to a PHD nearly anywhere else. In my high school, with five girls in my classes who got pregnant during my time there, none of them were in my physics class. The ones who take their studies seriously don't tend to get knocked up. If they did have sex, it'd be using Eureka-level birth control. Something where the effectiveness level makes condoms look like the withdrawal method.
I'm going to go with a curveball, the type that comes up when they announce "SOMEONE WILL DIE THIS WEEK!" -- the complete newcomer. Mary Perkins!
August 19 2008, 22:13:04 UTC 3 years ago
Pregnancy itself is not too sharky, but if she's knocked up with Nathan's baby *and* he's dead? Too much for me. It's like, one or the other is doable, but both at the same time seems wayyyy too cliche.
Right. I don't know how many people were getting pregnant at my school, but it wasn't the people in Engineering Physics and AP Calclus with me, that's for sure.
My weird theory that has no basis? Mary Perkins = Eva Thorne. LOL (I have no proof. Just random thought.)
Hahha I like that. Mary Perkins is off evading the DoD pregnant with some bioengineered Eureka child. ROTFL (but the 'Perkins' thing isn't going unnoticed to me. Walter, Susan, Brian... who is MARY?)
August 19 2008, 22:23:20 UTC 3 years ago
Yeeeah. I really really really hope that Stark doesn't die.
Update on SARAH's twitter -- in addition to the standard time loop line, Carter has two broken ribs. A doctor has been called.
Hey, could it be SARAH that's pregnant?
Hmm . . . Mary Perkins is Walter Perkins' sister!
August 19 2008, 23:01:14 UTC 3 years ago
I will flip my shit if I lose my handsome man. (GUH Ed Quinn is so HOT.) Moreso because it'll probably kill my writing, which has been WORKING lately. DAMMIT.
OH NOES JACK. LOL He hurts himself AGAIN tonight. We'll she how now. I assumed the 'raised adrenaline levels' thing was because of the whole 'kissing Ali' bit. Apparntly not. And Ali was doctor enough last time he broke his ribs, now she's not? hunh.
(Although him and Nathan in suits tonight. RAWR. Hey! Maybe Zane too... although he is anti-dress up. Gotta find a bright side to this whole debacle.)
ROTFL WIN
S.A.R.A.H. pregnant! What would she spawn though? Being a sentient AI, she's not exactly going to make babies like living beings. Room control systems? PDAs? (Did you see the story someone wrote where she gets herself an AI friend/boyfriend? CUTE)
I can't help but think that she's going to be connected to Walter somehow-- sister being the best option. Especially considering all the trouble he caused and set in motion.
August 19 2008, 23:45:52 UTC 3 years ago
I figured the raised adrenaline levels were due to freaking out about being stuck in the same day over and over and over and over and over. That sort of thing would result in background stress, even if things were going swimmingly otherwise.
I don't have much of a suit kink. To each their own; I'll just be over here drooling over the mental image of Zane in glasses.
She'd set up a little AI system for a kid's dollhouse, perhaps . . . pregnancy being when she was in the programming stages.
I do believe I missed that one (unless it was the S.A.R.A.H./JARVIS Eureka/Iron Man crossover), but would like a link because I adore S.A.R.A.H. fic.
*nodnod* So much setup, we need to see more of these characters come back. We still haven't seen the time bubble that comes out on the other end of the series premiere.
Lack of cable sucks. I have to wait until it comes up online.
Uh . . . on Sci Fi's official site, of course.

Actually, this is something I've been waiting to hit the main chat and gossip for for a while... cuz of the following quick comment from Charlie Craig a little over a month ago:
Pitching to the Network: three pregnancies, one of them male. I love this show!
I think it's might be episode 311, cuz the excitement over getting the green light on it from the writers is pretty high (and funny)!
And re: loosing Nathan. I'll cry. And be horrified. But then I'll be waiting for him to come back because A.) they have said that "a hero will rise... and fall... and rise" which I hope means he'll be back! And B.) EQ is listed in at least the last two episodes of the season while Erica Cerra still doesn't have imdb credit for 302. And C.) If it isn't a fake out, that's a ratings hit that I'm not sure the network would be willing to take.
Oh, in the category of people whose actions =chopping block, I nominate Henry. At the end of 303, Henry promises Jack information that's the potential solution to the season arc, just come by the garage and I'll walk you through it... Yeah, Henry dying stretches the arc by hiding away the infomation again!
August 19 2008, 20:44:05 UTC 3 years ago
I thought it could be Henry too, but then I remembered that Joe M said that Henry gets to be mayor of Eureka... so unless that was misinformation or plans have changed, I striked him as a possible victim.
Man, I really don't want it to be Nathan. I'd give up Carter before I gave up Nathan.
August 19 2008, 21:39:32 UTC 3 years ago
People are debating how seriously he said that -- he also joked that he's Kevin's father. (Joe's awesome.) I could see Henry as the mayor though-- even though he's not sure he wants to be back, people see him as a cornerstone of the town, and would choose him to lead them.
LOL Well you can't give up the main character, unless they become a permanent narrator or something. Just doesn't work that way.
August 19 2008, 21:22:40 UTC 3 years ago
.... oh *Charlie*. Why am I not suprised someone came up with this? The question becomes how on EARTH they manage to pass MPREG off with the network? That would take some serious effort.
I don't follow Charlie. Apparantly maybe I should.... o_O
Oh I'm totally afraid I'll lose my shit. (And I am NOT a crier. SRSLY.) I am entirely too attached to this character and the Jack/Nathan. It might break my fic brain too, having my boy gone.
re: imdb credits -- I just checked-- Erica/Jo's got all of her credits, Ed's listed for the next episode only, and Henry, Fargo and Zoe have 'complete' credits. (minus the finale.) So, either they're slow about tall, dark and handsome, or... fuckkkkk :-(
re: c.) That's kinda what I was thinking, but I'm not so sure. He may be a strong fandom favorite, but a lot of people are into the whole Jack/Allison thing, and with him gone, that wins. And that would please many people. :-/ And a lot of people don't care for the whole triangle thing either, so... *shrug* (I'm really hoping that it's not that Ed wants to leave or anything...)
Re: Henry -- I kinda thought that 'offer' was a bit *too* easy-- either the info isn't what they need/solution, or it's gone or he doesn't actually give it/give it all to Jack.
... can we just sit with our fingers in our ears and go *LALALALALALA* and not let Nathan die? or ANYONE die? *sigh*
Please please PLEASE be a fakeout. Make it happen in one of the time loops, and have Jack save him! :-D
August 20 2008, 05:42:23 UTC 3 years ago
And yeah, they don't have to air that particular ep if they don't want to, but people who've seen Enterprise know Sci-Fi's airing a show that had mpreg.
August 20 2008, 08:35:47 UTC 3 years ago
Interesting.
August 20 2008, 19:38:30 UTC 3 years ago
I hope Eureka doesn't have mpreg. I'm not against mpreg, cuz in certain cases it works... But still, leave the mpreg to Torchwood. I think the writers have forgotten about that throwaway comment Jack made. I still keep hoping we'll find out more about that tho. (I still like the idea of John being the one to knock him up.)
