Friending has been updated.

My new Eureka moodtheme is a custom made, fabulous birthday present by [info]ninurta. It is made of awesome.

All of my fic links should be up to date under the 'Comprehensive List of Fic', which is now post-dated to stay up at the top.

Piles of unfinished pieces have been discovered.

Have entered back into [info]eureka_tag for Season 3.5 challenge.

I am in possible need of a new header and more organization. (and, according to cat, a bath.)

Putting a defibrilator on this thing and attempting to bring it back to life

Ok, so I know I've let this LJ sit idle for a while now & pretty much disappeared down a black hole-- but I'm attempting a revival. Including the comments that people have left, some a very, very long time ago. I'll get to them. I appreciate everyone's patience, and I apologize to anyone who might have been offended or hurt by the lack of response- but considering I was radio silent, I was hoping people would figure out on their own that it wasn't THEM in particular that got left behind.

NCIS - 6x16- "Bounce"

February 18th, 2009 (07:37 pm)

I. Love. Leroy. Jethro. Gibbs.

Seriously.

If I went into a lot of OMG SQUEE over like half the freaking episode.

( I have much Tony and McGee love after this too. and Jimmy! OMG!)

But seriously, Gibbs has Tony's six so much. And he trusts him. INHERENTLY. And shows it. and... yeah. I could go on.

Realized last night while in bed:

Season 1= no rakishly handsome, devilishly deviant Zane Donovan. :-(

(although, considering the art, maybe this is not such a bad thing.)

Guess there will be more chaos of the Taggart and Fargo flavors instead.

Eureka comic shows signs of life!

(via the awesome [info]serene_quill)

Well, it looks like the comic book might actually see the light of day-- only a month and a half late.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=19798

Looking at it, all I can think is wow, the art is TERRIBLE. Jack looks like some big boxy monkey (and Colin is so lean/wiry/little), Jo looks BLACK, not latino, Nathan looks like the dude from TNG when I was a kid - the XO of the ship - and Vincent just looks bad. Not enough of the rest of them yet to make a verdict, but I gotta agree with [info]serene_quill when she says that they should have hired [info]nasyu/[info]artmetica to do it because they're WAY better than this artist is ever going to be. :-/

Annoyed with the whole no response, no info 8million delays thing that I'll go get it when I damn well get around to it and am down near the shop and not a minute before. No extra trips.

Fail, comic people, fail. And you had such potential too. :-/

Eureka fic: "Altered Perceptions" (Jack/Nathan; NC-17)

January 30th, 2009 (07:09 pm)

Fandom: EUReKA
Title: Altered Perceptions
Rating: NC-17
Summary: A GD mishap becomes a blessing in disguise.
Disclaimer: Not mine. Property of SciFi, Andrew Cosby and Jamie Paglia.
Pairing/Characters: Jack Carter/Nathan Stark
Categories/Warnings: Assumes that S3 didn't happen, S2 AU of sorts, established relationship.
A/N: Written for [info]smallfandomfest, with the prompt : Jack/Nathan, Jack can feel it when Nathan touches himself
A/N#2: Thanks to [info]serene_quill for the beta help, and whom I also blame for this piece, because when I showed her the prompts for [info]smallfandomfest, this one got the response "You better be writing this one." So I gave it a shot. Late present of sorts, too.

Generally when Jack and Fargo get that look on their faces, something is amiss... )

Grabbed from FList

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

Wetlands, 4th edition, William J. Mitsch & James G. Gosselink

Fifth sentence:

The southern tip of Florida, from Lake Okeechobee southward to the Florida Bay, harbors one of the unique regional wetlands of the world.

Next seven:

The region encompasses three major types of wetlands in its 34,000-sq km area: the Everglades, the Big Cypress Swamp, and the coastal mangroves and Florida Bay (Fig 3.4). The water that passes through the Everglades on its journey from Lake Okeechobee is often referred to conceptually as a "river of grass" that is often only centimeters in depth and 80 km wide. The Everglades is dominated by Sawgrass (Cladium jamaicense), which is actually a sedge, not a grass. The expanses of sawgrass, which can be flooded by up to a meter of water in the wet season (summer) and burned in a fire in the dry season (winter/spring), are interspersed with deeper water sloughs and tree islands, or hammocks, that support a vast diversity of tropical and subtropical plants, including hardwood trees, palms, orchids, and other air plants. To the west of the sawgrass Everglades is the Big Cypress Swamp, called big because of its great expanse, not because of the size of the trees. The swamp is dominated by cypress (Taxodium spp.) interspersed with pine flatwoods and wet prairie (Fig 3.5). It receives about 125 cm of rainfall per year but does not receive majhor amounts of overland flow as the Everglades does.

Annoyance -- now comic flavored!

January 23rd, 2009 (09:49 pm)
aggravated

current mood: aggravated

So.... I was all excited about the idea of a Eureka comic -- Nathan would still be alive. Taggart wouldn't have magically disappeared. Jo would get the respect and attention she'd deserve. It'd be like a whole new episode of Eureka, with the old skool appeal, by the experts, that I could read over and over that would only cost a few bucks. Sorta like mega awesome fanfic but better.

... execpt that Boom! has now managed to make it the biggest 'ur doin it rong' despite the good start. Ohhhhhh am I annoyed. And I know I'm not the only one.

First they say in October that #1 would be coming out in December. Put out a nice little preview post that shows it as coming soon. Annoying, but hey, we know a timeframe. As December marches on (or this year here -- snows incessantly -- long story) we get a release date at the end of December. Release date rolls around, nothing's shipped. Another week passes, still nothing. The comics shops haven't heard anything. All the Boom!site says is 'Not yet released'. No date, nothing. Their blog doesn't say anything either.

So now, a month later, still nothing. And then this week they post their 'March preview' on their blog, which has Eureka #4 in it.... Do the math. *waits* It doesn't work. And makes them lose even more credibility because they either can't do basic math, or can't be bothered to make sure their current posts are accurate based on their actual release dates, not something that was clearly made a long time ago.

I've tried contacting them for info, no response. A friend did the same before me and got a really crappy form letter that told us to 'keep checking the blog' -- which we *were* already checking, and wasn't telling us crap.

Transparency, or even some info, would go a REALLY long way with people. Even an "oh sorry, we've had an unexpected delay with ____, our best estimated ship date is going to be ___" -- even if they push it back a couple times -- would be more likely to keep our attention and loyalty. At this rate, they're going to alienate the people that WERE going to buy the comic and instead aren't going to waste their time to keep checking to find out if it's out yet -- I'm at the end of my rope, and I bet I held out longer than a lot of other people. Especially given that I've given up on Eureka Unscripted and SARAH's Twitter, because they've both been practially ghost towns for months now.

All the silence + plotlines headed south (2 pregnancies, dead Nathan, Lexi staying.. what?) = me getting very skeptical about the show that had managed to eclipse CSI:NY as my favorite.

Fail, Eureka people, EPIC FAIL ALL AROUND. :-(

(Of course, if any of you has any better info than me, I'd be happy to hear it.)

Eureka fic: "Morning Person" (Jack/Nathan, PG)

January 3rd, 2009 (04:20 pm)

Fandom: EUReKA
Title: Morning Person
Rating: PG
Summary: Jack contemplates the nature of being a morning person and the surprises of a relationship.
Disclaimer: Not mine. Property of SciFi, Andrew Cosby and Jamie Paglia.
Pairing/Characters: Jack Carter/Nathan Stark
Categories/Warnings: Assumes that S3 didn't happen, S2 AU of sorts, established relationship.
A/N: Thanks to [info]serene_quill for the beta help, and whom I also blame for this piece based on the following Twitter: (Twitter takes some experience to interpret) "J was surprised 2 learn N was not a morning person. But after being pulled back 2 bed w a growled, 'Stay,' J decided he liked that."

Jack never thought of himself as a morning person... )

FAIL.

ABC passes on 3 shows

The internets are already exploding. And rightfully so. This is a total blow to intelligent, scripted, imaginative television. I was a fan of Eli Stone, and hadn't seen Pushing Daisies, even though people kept telling me I'd like it.

Sigh. Whatever happened to GOOD, imaginative, non-reality shows that aren't crime dramas? (I love me my crime dramas, but still.)

Epic Fail, ABC. Epic. Fail.

It’s often hard to leave feedback in a public forum without censoring ourselves, or being afraid of offending somebody.

Here you can share the love, or air your true opinions without that pesky face-to-face (or ah, username-to-username) issue - the point is to be completely honest.

Love Abernathy? Hate him? Think I need to write more of something? Less? Hate my characterization of Nathan? Think Jack needs to be written stronger? Have some other opinion you've been dying to share for whatever reason and want to say it? Click the colorful link below to do so! Everything is completely anonymous, and I'm really curious to see what people are really thinking.

BEST. ANNOUNCEMENT. EVER.

This absolutely MADE MY NIGHT last night when it appeared on this entry.

"I'm back." *flail* (and he does the thing with the hands!)

GENIUS marketing campaign by them to advertise the fact that Nathan lives in the comic world. People were upset about his departure, and people are going to be MUCH more interested in the idea of having Nathan back.

and COLIN IS WRITING FOR IT. Could I love the man any more? Noooooo.(I want his webisodes NOW.)

The outtakes at the end are MADE OF WIN, and Ed could not be more adorable. (*pets Ed*)

Not to mention they get even more points because someone at boom took the time to google/track bloogers that were talking about the comic and post the link of the announcement to my LJ. I honestly continue to be impressed by the caliber of the people associated with Eureka in all its aspects.

I am now even more glad that I've already reserved a copy. (I'm not the collector type, so I could care less about all the covers and whatnot. I just want to read it. NOW.)
