So, I re-purposed this prompt table from a comm I've posted at before because I needed some inspiration for some White Collar fics and I just couldn't fit their format. I intended for just a few sentences for each prompt, but it didn't quite turn out that way. Somehow I don't anticipate much objection over the end result. :-)

Dear Flist (if anyone is still reading this):

I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to devote to fandom right now as I am currently in the middle of stepping off a cliff into a whole new life-- traveling halfway across country to accept a 5-year scholarship/funding offer to pursue a PhD in my field.

The last few weeks I have been preparing for this trip, and I'm a week into the trip and about halfway there. (2000+ miles)

It is my hope that I'll be able to return to fandom shortly after I get settled into my new life, but at this point, I'm not sure. I honestly don't know what my life is going to be like. I've never been to grad school. I have no idea what this city is like. I have no idea what my workload (position & classes) is going to be. I have no idea what people are going to expect of me socially.

I have some stuff stashed that's mostly done, and I really DO want to continue... It just is going to be a matter of finding the time. But I'll try.

For sure, I intend on trying to keep up with you guys-- even if it's just checking the Flist.

Okay, I’ll be honest with you: Kate is Peter’s daughter. No, I’m kidding. Kate, Neal and Peter have been having a three way for the last few years—no, I can’t tell you anything.





...... Tim DeKay, I love you even more now. I was not sure it was possible, but it is. :-D

And seriously? I am now convinced he is completely down with the idea of the Peter/Neal/Elizabeth OT3 even if it would never happen and he knows it. Hah.


(But did he really say that in an interview? Between that and his clothing choices, how does his wife let him out of the house? *facepalm*)

Going to be gone most of the weekend, but am LOVING ALL OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND RESPONSES. :-D Thank you all for being respectful, thoughtful and honest! I will reply Sunday, as long as life doesn't explode my plans.

New thought experiment:


Peter's personality at home/in bed/etc. (in-charge, laid back, etc) Especially re: expansion into fanfic vs what we see in canon. Go.

Thank you all who have contributed to the discussion/thought experiment so far--- I'll comment back soon. The positive, thoughtful response encourages me to post another. I have some ideas in mind-- I'm just really interested in seeing how others see the characters, especially in the context of fandom. (and that there seems to be a lot of different interpretations in the fandom already.)

Since apparently my Flist *is* alive, I'm posing this question to my Flist at large because I'm curious and as some of you might know, I'm working on multiple White Collar fics right now.

Note: This is a thought experiment, and by no means meant to criticize anyone's fics, opinions, etc. I'm looking for open, honest discussion.


So to all the "Collars" out there:


1.) Would Peter Burke have an affair behind Elizabeth's back/without her knowing about it? Not a one-night stand, caught up in the moment, 'I screwed up' kind of thing, (or even undercover work) but a planned out, long-term adulterous affair with someone? (i.e. Neal)

2.) If he did have one of the above/ or something short term, would he tell her?

3.) How would she react?
